This book is a collection of poetic writings whose earliest seeds were planted in my imagination as a young girl working in the cotton fields of Holcomb, Mississippi.

My literary work reflects the fabric of the woman I once dreamed I would become. These poems and the short story come together like a quilt of divinely inspired wordplay, created to uplift, encourage, and inspire readers.
The book explores many facets of life, with a special emphasis on hope and redemption. Readers are invited to whet their appetite and savor the flavor of Love, Peace and Sweet Tea.
Within these pages, readers will find poetry that speaks to love, peace, spirituality, and romance. Barr’s favorite poem, “The God in Me,” was inspired by the way God has touched her life. It encourages readers to hold on to hope, embrace who they are, love deeply, and share that love with the world.
“There are many motivational and self-help books, but Love, Peace and Sweet Tea is a call to action,” Barr said. “When sipped daily, the reader is taken on a journey of spiritual enlightenment.”
The title was inspired by Barr’s passion for love and peace, as well as her fondness for sweet tea, a cherished staple at family gatherings. Her desire for peace and humanity was nurtured at a young age by her parents. As a pre-teen, she began speaking about love and unity in her church and throughout her community.
As an author, Barr’s mission is to motivate others to live with greater love and to become builders of peace. A native of Oxberry, Mississippi, she is the mother of three sons, a registered nurse, and a longtime resident of the Leimert Park community of Los Angeles.
In loving memory of my mother Lavern Person Lott, who inspired me to write poetry. She would be proud to know that I follow in her footsteps. R.I.P (Rest In Peace)
